The following morning, there was a knock at Snout's door.
Knock, knock.
The brothers looked at one another.
Trotter opened the door.
Standing outside was a friendly old badger carrying a walking stick.
"Good morning," he said. "I am looking for the path to the village."
The brothers showed him the way.
"Thank you," said the badger. "You are very kind."
As he walked away, Porky whispered, "I thought it might be the famous wolf."
"What famous wolf?" asked Trotter.
Porky shrugged.
"I don't know. It just sounded exciting."
Snout laughed.
"There is no famous wolf."
The brothers returned to their breakfast.
But deep in the wood, a grey wolf was indeed wandering along the paths.
He was not famous either.
He was simply hungry.
And he had no idea that three little pigs were about to become the most talked-about brothers in the forest.
