The path led to a beautiful clearing.
In the middle stood an old wooden sign.
It was so faded that the brothers could hardly read it.
Snout brushed away some leaves.
"Welcome to..." he began.
The rest of the words had disappeared.
Trotter looked around.
"I wonder who used to live here."
Porky noticed three smooth stones beside the sign.
He picked one up.
"Look! Three stones."
He placed them in a little row.
Snout smiled.
"Three brothers. Three stones."
Trotter added a small twig beside them.
"Now it looks like a proper little campsite."
The brothers decided to rest for a while.
They listened to the birds and watched clouds drift across the blue sky.
Then they heard a sound.
Rustle, rustle.
The brothers sat up.
Rustle, rustle.
Something was moving behind the bushes.
Porky whispered, "Maybe it is a dragon."
Snout whispered back, "There are no dragons in this wood."
The bushes moved again.
Out stepped a small brown rabbit.
The brothers burst out laughing.
The rabbit looked at them as if they were being very silly indeed.
"Well," said Trotter, "at least we know we are not the only ones exploring today.
